🌀 What the Spiral Does

Air coming into the tube meets a twisted profile instead of a straight wall, and the spiral catches it. The pillar turns a little more readily for it.

The grooves do a second job at the same time. A twisted face has more quartz in it than a smooth one of the same length, so there is more hot surface for concentrate to meet as the pillar comes around.

Shape and surface usually pull in different directions on a pillar. This is the cut where they do not.

Cap the slurper and the top is sealed shut. From there, air has one way in: small slits down where the dish meets the quartz tube. That inrush is what turns the pillar.

• Not spinning? Check the cap seal first. The slits only pull air when the top is closed.
• Swab it while it is still warm. A spiral has more places for residue to sit than a smooth face, so a warm wipe saves real work later.
• Use the grabber to lift it out. Quartz on quartz chips, and a dropped pillar usually finds the dish.
